alt="traffic in from of the RV heading towards Harrisonburg"

From our dalliance with Dollyworld we packed up the van & headed for Harisonburg, outdoor adventure capital of the Shenandoah Valley that also goes by the title of the ‘Friendly City’.

Passing through places called Dublin & Glasgow was amusing as they bore no resemblance to their older counterparts so no idea how they came by their names.

Virginia is a pretty state very green & reminded me very much of home. I had travelled many years before though the Blue Ridge Mountains on a greyhound bus so in some ways it felt a little familiar.

As our stay was short I can’t say what the outdoor adventure was like, but the good outdoor sports shop was really good & the people were friendly we met were very friendly.

We opted to eat at the same place twice during our stay because the food & service was fab & it was quite nice to be greeted like a regular on the second visit! Harrisonburg for me was a nice place & worthy of its claim for being friendly. I was sad our visit was short & would like to go back someday.

We had planned a short stop at a boutique hotel for a couple of nights to catch up with a friend & be able to sleep in a real beds & do a switch on the drivers. Daughter had to get back to work so hubby flew out to help get the van back as the hire firm had no depot on the East coast to drop off the wagon.

I was relieved our friend was willing to do the airport run & it went remarkably smoothly all things considered.

It was to an RV park close to George Town that we headed to see what bourbon tasted like.
