Realising I no longer needed so many tangible things as presents. Hubby was stuck for Christmas present ideas. So at my suggestion jumped at the chance to support a struggling artist.
The present involved Danny Wright penning a song for me based on the topic I provided. Collaborating with Danny Wright was fun and Drive (4Denise) was born.
Internal Conflict
Describing the conflicting feelings about who I now was cathartic. Long time wife & mother now to be combined with pensioner. The latter title I wasn’t sure I was completely comfortable with.
Danny listened & I feel managed to combine the sense of jumbled emotions plus feeling of hope. So the song feels up beat & always lifts my spirits when I hear it.
t was a fantastic present & helped me deal with the prospect of retirement.

Music to our Ears
Needless to say this was top of the playlist compiled for the road trip. It formed the inspiration for the newly acquired desire for a tattoo.
My daughter was a little aghast as she thought I was going to have one done whilst away. I reassured her that it would take a bit of research. I needed to find the right design and artist to achieve it.
However it made sense to begin the process with a henna ‘trial run’. This was possib curtesy of an artist on site at the festival.
The henna tattoo artist was lovely & came up with a simple yet effective image. I didn’t know at that stage how a real tattoo would look. I had some ideas yet couldn’t quite visualise it. It
It was a fun place & seemed an appropriate way to give having a tattoo a ‘trial run’.

As a trial run I decided to have a henna tattoo to see how I felt about having one. It meant that it would eventually wear off so it felt a good way to test the concept.

Retirement Jouney
On first listen you could be forgiven for thinking the song is just about a road trip. However the hidden metaphor is someone heading off towards the ‘sunset time’ of their life. Referring to all the challenges that can bring & how to begin to deal with them.
The prospect of growing older was daunting to begin with. However planning fun things to do definitely helps to make the adjustments needed.
